CHAPTER 11
1st April 2022
Unknown Location, Somewhere On the Outskirts of Canterbury, England
âWhat do you mean I canât leave?â Bettie said.
She was furious as she stood in the bedroom with the Queen size bed, portraits on the walls and chandelier hanging overhead. This was flat out ridiculous, Bettie was trying to help them and they wouldnât let her leave.
She needed to escape, go back to the office and try and run the serial number of the camera she had just found to prove why the sex tape had been taken on this very camera. Then she needed to find out if this model of secret camera transmitted the footage or did someone need to collect it and download the footage.
Bettie just stared at Willow Fisher and Mr Jones as they barred her from leaving. Of course Phryne was nowhere to be seen and quite frankly Bettie didnât care. If her sister wanted to believe she was stupid for being a Private Eye, helping people and solving crimes then Bettie didnât want her in her life anymore.
Bettie forced herself not to gag, cough or vomit as she started to smell hints of the roast dinner lunch on Willow and Mr Jones. But Bettie wouldnât mind vomiting on them after their outrageous behaviour.
âListen to me,â Bettie said, âI need to go and run this serial number on the camera. I have to help you stop this blackmailer,â
Willow laughed. âIâm sorry. But Mr Jones was talking with your sister and we learnt tons about you. It seems like you are not the Private Eye everyone thinks you are,â
Bettieâs hands formed fists. She hated her sister. How dare she spread lies about Bettie. Not respecting her career choice, Bettie could and would live with, but actively trying to discredit her. That was a new low.
âIt seems like you tend to make sure wild theories to impress your clients and get their money,â Mr Jones said, who was oddly a less formal now.
In fact both of them were and that was strange. Earlier these people had been so formal, stuck up and pompous. But they had changed now, probably because they didnât think Bettie was useful.
Bettie was going to prove them wrong.
âMy sister lies,â Bettie said firmly.
Mr Jones laughed. âMiss English, your sister said you said say that. In fact, we have decided to take up your sisterâs offers of legal representation. She has gotten her phone back and is now connecting to our printers so we can sign the legal paperwork,â
Bettie frowned. âWhat legal paperwork?â
Willow smiled. âMiss English, the legal paperwork making it illegal for you to discuss anything about today. Including my name, the location of my property and anything you have seen,â
Bettie laughed. This was ridiculous.
âAnd if you continue to investigate and make up more lies. Then we will sue you, Miss English,â Mr Jones said.
âWhat about my money?â Bettie asked.
In all fairness, with a kid on the way that was what she was more concerned with.
Willow grinned. âWhat money? Once you sign the legal paperwork, you will not be able to discuss money whatsoever.
